This sweetness will be your weakness

Tomatoes are part of the nightshade family (Solanaceae) and while traditionally known as vegetables, are actually fruit in the botanical sense. Cherry tomatoes are just one of many varieties, including bright yellow tomatoes, Italian pear-shaped tomatoes and green tomatoes. Because of their red colour, tomatoes are carotenoid-rich and a good source of lycopene, an antioxidant that protects cells against free radical damage.

Next time you’re in the kitchen, try tossing every colour of cherry tomato you can find into a salad with some basil, your choice of cheese – or vegan cheese – along with our simple vinaigrette and grilled chicken.

How to store
If buying unripe tomatoes, store them at room room temperature and out of direct exposure to sunlight. They will keep for up to one week in this condition. If they become overripe, you can use them right away or move them to the fridge.
